Decision guide
Repair or replace a refrigerator?
A practical rule of thumb
If a repair is well below about half the cost of a comparable replacement, the sealed system is healthy, and the refrigerator is not near end of life, repair is often the better call. When compressor work, repeated major failures, or advanced age enter the picture, replacement may win.
What we need to know
- Estimated repair cost band
- Approximate replacement value
- Age / expected remaining life
- Whether the fault is a component vs sealed-system issue
- Recent repair history
ApplianceQuoter will not pretend to know age or replacement value until you provide them.
